Below are problems for fundamental counting principle, combinations and permutations. All problems should be completed showing all steps for each. Follow the directions as given at the top of each problem set.

Compound Probability

Compound probability means find the probability of a compound event which is an event made up of more than one event. Examples of this would be flipping a coin several times, rolling dice more than one time, flipping a coin and rolling a dice, and thing of that nature.

When determining probability of these type events, you need to determine if the events are independent or dependent. In other words does one depend on the other or not. This would be like rolling a dice and flipping a coin. The result of flipping the coin will have no impact on the result of rolling the dice. Conversely, selecting a student randomly, taking them out of the group and then selecting a second student is a dependent event. If it changes the sample space, it is dependent.
